About Chess annotation (சதுரங்கம் பற்றிய சிறுகுறிப்பு)




What is Chess?
Chess is game played between two players.It is played by two colours i.e white and black.The word 'Chess' came from the ancient game of India called Chaturanga. This game was played by the Early kings and Scholars.  From India, this game travelled to Persia (now Iran). From Persia, this game travelled  to Europe. There, people called this game as Chess. The Europeans made some rules to this game that;- this game should be played between two people only. Each player has 16 pieces.From Europe, this game spread to all over the World. 

How is it played?
In chess,the two players who are playing together have 16 pieces in start of game. The pieces are as follows:-)

8 pawns in the front 
2 rooks
2 bishops
2 knights
1 queen
1 king

The main objective of game is to checkmate the opponent's  King.
The pawns or knights move first. In the first move, pawn can move two squares.The pawn captures opponent's pieces in a diagonal direction.The pawn has another special move called En-Passent capture. This move can be done when opponent do an doublepawn move.
The next special move pawn has is Promotion. It can be promoted when it reaches the other end of the chessboard. This can be promoted as Queen,Rook, Bishop,and Knight.The points for capturing a pawn is 1.

The next piece is Knight. It moves in different squares. If it is in the white square ,then it will move in a black square.If it is in Black square, it moves in a white square. It can jump pieces.The points for capturing a knight is 3.

The next piece is Bishop. It can move as long as it is not blocked in a diagonal direction. It cannot jump pieces as the knight can.The points for capturing for a bishop is 3.

The next piece is Rook. It can move in a horizontally or a vertically as long as it is not blocked. It cannot jump at pieces as the knight can.The points for capturing a rook is 5.

The next piece is the Queen. She is the powerful piece in the game. It  includes the power of rook and bishop. So she can move in horizontal ,vertical or diagonal direction as long as she is not blocked.The points for capturing a Queen is 9.The White queen will begin the movement from a White square and Black Queen from a Black .

The next piece is King.It is the most important piece of the game.The main aim of the opponents is to Checkmate their opponent's king.It can move in all directions, one square at a time.The king has a special move called Castling. In this move, the king moves two squares to its right or left and rook comes near the king.The move can only be done when :-

1. The king  is not in check.
2. Either the king or rook have not made a movement.
3. The king's moving square is not blocked.
